What a weekend! On Saturday, 17th January, our Fr Mathews Premier Ladies team etched their names into club history with a remarkable victory in the NICC Womenβs National Cup Final at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. In a thrilling contest that showcased heart, grit, and sheer determination, our ladies emerged 59β52 winners over FloMAX Liffey Celtics β claiming the clubβs first ever NICC National Cup title.
From early adversity to inspired leadership, this was a performance to savour. Trailing by as many as 15 points in the third quarter, the team never lost belief. Extra-ordinary leadership from Niamh Dwyer, who turned back the clock with a sensational second-half performance and finished as MVP, sparked a momentum shift that lit up Tallaght. With key contributions from captain Heather Lynch, Amy Corkery, Meabh Humphreys, Mila Pichet and the entire squad, the comeback became reality and then glory.
Together, we are one club. One family. And this victory belongs to all of us.
As we reflect with pride on this historic moment, we also look forward with excitement to what the future holds β inspired by this achievement and driven by the belief that the best is yet to come.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in this journey β from the stands to the sidelines, from Fr Mathew Arena to Tallaght. We did it together.
Proud of our past. Excited for our future. ??
